Thank you all for participating in the 2020 Brockton City Open. A ton of preparation, time, and effort goes into running our events, gaining times at the host clubs, and running the best competition possible, especially during this weird time in our history.
That being said, the weather events that happened yesterday were unfortunate and untimely. As an association we did the best we could to try and first have a 54 hole event like normal. Watching that radar yesterday, you could see a bathtub full of water coming our way, albeit very slowly. Most usually, but not always like yesterday, thunderstorms come thru this area violently but quickly, allowing us to have a short break like we did Friday at BCC, yet continue on once it passes by. We quickly learned that as it got bigger and bigger while you were all out there, it was not moving with any speed to clear out.
We were hoping upon hope to get everyone thru 9 holes of golf before that storm hit, always with the hope of getting back out there to complete the round. Believe me when I say this, and have played in many tournaments in my life, there isn't one person on the committee that wanted to see the tournament end the way it did. There was plenty of movement on both leaderboards for day 3 and would have been an exciting day of golf to finish off the championship.
To hopefully never run into this again, we will work hard to come up with more basic guidelines to get out in front of the participants for our two championships and have them out for everyone to see.
We hope that you can find time to join us for this years Four ball on Aug 28-30, emails and apps will come out soon! Thank you all and congrats to our winners!
